Me:

The artist rapelling with large format camera and companion in Salome Canyon in Arizona.

I am an outdoor junkie. I didn't realize this until I was 24 years old and had moved to Tucson, Arizona. A friend introduced me to the world of hiking and mountain biking and a couple years later I discovered climbing. Rock climbing became my life and I spent almost every weekend for a few years doing nothing but climbing in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and California. Recently, I've started canyoneering.

I started taking a camera with me on my adventures and discovered I had a passion for composition and light. I graduated myself to the large format camera after seeing an exhibition of Jack Dykinga prints at the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum near Tucson. I was blown away by the detail and clarity.

Today, I create fine prints of the landscape and while the craft is a quest to for the unattainable goal of perfection, my prints are already gracing the homes of friends, family, and extremely satisfied clients.

The Images:

While composition and beautiful light is never about the gear, familiarity and execution of the crafting of an image is. For this reason, I use a large format camera for precise control over the resulting image. I use a digital camera when the moment and subject is right, or if I'm too lazy to carry my 4x5 camera.

My hope with my images is to bring awareness and appreciation of the places I've seen and found through the creation of finely made prints. Through my eyes, I hope that people will see the beauty that I see even in what can be the harshest of places. I hope that people who see my images learn that we must care for both the environment in which we live and the environment in which we don't live. The world is our gift and we should steward it well.
